Absolutely loved working on this illustration. The layout was simple and clean and taught what the article was teaching. Thats the roll of us designers right!
Like every good illustration I start out with a concept sketch. Once I like how the layout works with the article I move onto a more clean tighter sketch like the one you see above. Then I add values and colors. Easier said than done of corse.
